What is the advantage in using the 1 1/2" diam. 2" cutter ht. mega flush trim router bit over the 3/iv" diam. 2" cutter ht. flake ?? I'one thousand using a 3 ane/4 h.p. variable speed tabular array mounted router.
Question by: Marie M on Jul 31, 2018, 3:39 PM
The larger bore improves the cutting action of the bit by creating a shallower angle of attack. In turn this helps reduce chipping and tearout when routing into the grain or in figured woods.

Is the top begetting removable so that the lesser begetting is guiding the cut? Needed if the thickness is greater than the cut acme of the flake.

I purchased the MEGA flush trim bit set. I tried the larger bit concluding evening, the 1.v" diameter, 2" long scrap. It vibrated very bad in my router. I have a Jessem router in a Jessem table. I used a phenolic pattern and used the lesser bearing. The bit caused a track in the phenolic as I went effectually the pattern and really left a fine pilus below the bearing that appears to be a fine shaving off the phenolic. I suspect the vibration is the scrap not being straight and the fine shaving is the bearing vibrating and actually sluffing some of the phenolic off as information technology went around the pattern. Is there anything that can be washed? I accept not tried the other 3 bits, but tin can to encounter if they exhibit the same problem.
Question past: Ed Mettler on May 31, 2019, ten:41 AM
These bits are made to a very tight tolerance, the chances of the bit being out of tolerance are extremely pocket-size. Because this bit is quite large in diameter and tall it is important to insure that your collet are perfectly make clean with no sawdust or other droppings in it and that the bit is inserted properly and non bottomed out in the collet. Running the bit at proper RPM is too very important, We recommend starting at 16,000 RPM and making small speed adjustments if needed to best suit the material existence routed.

The Infinity video recommends using the 1 i/2 mega bits in a router table. Delight explain why the 3/4 bits shouldn't be used in a router table. Does anyone have bug using the 2" cutter height on wood nether 5/iv?
Question past: One thousand thousand on Nov 26, 2019, x:xiv AM
The 3/iv" diameter Mega Flush Trim Bits can exist used in both handheld routers and router tables. Nosotros recommend the 1-ane/2" diameter bits for router table only use because of their larger size.
The 2" cutter summit bits work very nicely in thinner material. If y'all want to have advantage of the compression shear angles be sure to set the scrap height appropriately. If you are using the taller chip on thinner stock and following a template you may need to infinite the template to take full advantage of the compression cut.
